There are two main types of utility knives; one features a handle and a retractable razor blade, while the other features a retractable snap off razor blade. The first type generally stores the razor blades in the handle and has a quick and easy blade reversal or changing mechanism. The other type has scores in the blade to allow the farthest piece to be snapped of when it becomes dull, exposing a sharp edge.
